A scarce Salamanca printing discussing the papal constitution De largitione munerum utriusque sexus regularibus interdicta, issued under Pope Clement VIII (Ippolito Aldobrandini, 1536-1605). Sosa, a Franciscan theologian at Salamanca, examines the legal implications of the decree for religious houses, setting out a series of juridical "advertencias" and resolutions addressing difficult questions arising from the regulation of gifts and exchanges involving members of religious orders. The work reflects the broader programme of ecclesiastical discipline and increased papal oversight of monastic institutions characteristic of the post-Tridentine Church. Two later editions appeared in 1597 and 1696. Rare in North American collections. OCLC records examples of the later editions only, with none of the 1596 first edition located. No copies of any edition appear to be held by the Library of Congress, Harvard Law School, or UC Berkeley Law. Palau, Manual del Librero Hispano-Americano 319804.
