Parker to attend the opening of Harvard's "New Law Library," which was housed in a recently completed addition to Dane Hall, the law school's home. A committee of three students, Francis E. Parker of Boston (Class of 1846), Anthony A. Penniston of New Orleans (Class of 1845) and Anson Burlingame of Detroit (Class of 1846), organized an opening festival on July 3, 1845. Current students and faculty, prominent citizens, alumni and members of the local bar were invited. J.M. Williams was probably John M. Williams, a Boston lawyer and judge, later chief justice of the Suffolk Court of Common Pleas.
