Some argued that the Treaty of Utrecht, which ended the War of the Spanish Succession, annulled this claim. For them the treaty clearly stated that the crowns of France and Spain remain separate. The anonymous author of the present book does not agree. He supports his claim with an ingenious argument. The final section, entitled "Postscript to the Montpensier Marriage" was also published separately. Not in the British Museum Catalogue.
