Early Italian Edition of a Notable French JP Manual Henrion De Pansey [Pensey], Pierre Paul Nicolas, Baron [1742-1829]. Casabianca, M.A., Translator. Della Competenza dei Giudici di Pace. Florence: Presso Niccolo Carli, 1813. Two volumes. Octavo (7-1/2" x 5"). Original plain publisher wrappers, untrimmed edges. Moderate rubbing and faint stains to wrappers, backstrips perished, binding secure. Light browning to interior, faint dampspotting in places, internally clean. $450. * Second Italian edition, a translation of the second French edition, 1812. De la Competence des Juges de Paix (Paris, 1805) was the first manual based on the Code Napoleon and a standard work for many years. The transfer of French law to Italy during the Napoleonic era created a need for this translation with occasional notes to reflect local practice. Casabianca was justice of the peace in Figline Valdarno, a province in Tuscany near Florence. OCLC locates 1 copy of this edition (at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France). Not in the British Museum Catalogue or Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale (SBN).
