This detailed, intensely learned account of the history and bibliography of the printing of the Scottish Bible from the sixteenth century onward, discusses prices, translations, editorial history, technical aspects of printing, typography, format, paper, binding, edition size, illustration, comparisons of Scottish and English workmanship, rivalry between English and Scottish printers, and more. It also contains an exhaustive history of the printing monopoly itself.
