Writing "with real sorrow," Moore notes that he has just read of the passing of Mr. Poole, who had served as the esteemed librarian of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York since 1905, and was a past president of the American Association of Law Libraries. John Bassett Moore was a monumental figure in American jurisprudence, serving as a long-time professor of law and diplomacy at Columbia University, and famously becoming the first American jurist appointed to sit on the Permanent Court of International Justice (The Hague).
