Nineteenth-Century Sign from a Lawyer's Office [Lawyers]. [United States]. [Gilt-Lettered, Black-Background Wooden Sign Reading: Norman W. Downes, Lawyer]. Vermont?, Mid- to late-nineteenth century. 8-1/4" x 26," gilt letters on rough black-sand surface, beveled edges, two eyelet screws at ends (for hanging). Rubbing around edges with some wear, mostly around bottom corners. $350. * A note on the verso reads: "Seller said from VT. His joke: Don't see many of these without bullet holes in them!"
