A well-preserved item. $750. * This bright blue poster is dominated by a large image of Lady Justice above a caption reading: "I Can Determine Guilt, But I Cannot Restore Life." The white illustration and text jumps off the page. The right side of the scale depicts a crushed car with a license plate reading 5931, the left a prisoner's uniform stamped with the same number. The illustration says you will exchange your license plate number for a prisoner's i.d. number if you are responsible for a traffic fatality. This poster was part of the Eastern European poster collection of Francis Gary Powers Jr., an expert on the U-2 Incident and the Cold War. He was the son of Francis Gary Powers, Capt US Air Force, the American pilot whose Central Intelligence Agency U-2 spy plane was shot down while flying a reconnaissance mission in Soviet Union airspace.
