Contemporary calf, blind rules to boards, raised bands and fragment of paper title label to spine, gilt tooling to board edges. A few minor nicks and scratches to boards, light rubbing to extremities, wear to head of spine, joints starting, corners bumped and somewhat worn, front hinge starting, interior notably fresh. A handsome copy. $4,500. * First edition. This is the first English treatise on the subject and the first copy of this edition we have seen in 40 years. Its twenty comprehensive chapters consist of a digest of the case law relating to each topic with explanatory comments. Holdsworth notes that "[i]t was a useful book to practitioners since it covers all the topics connected with its subject." A third edition was published in 1726. All editions are scarce.
