Light toning, light soiling, two horizontal fold lines, a few minor stains, contemporary annotations to verso. A very good copy. $850. * Raine, steward of the Court Leet of Alnwick, orders officers to proceed against anyone guilty of "forestalling, ingrossing" or "regrating," that is, manipulating market prices. The broadside states these practices "have of late become very prevalent, in Consequence of which, the Price of Provisions has been considerably enhanced, to the great Detriment of the Public in general, but of the poorer Orders of the Community in Particular." Its final paragraph states, perhaps as a warning, that these actions are, "by common law...highly criminal and punishable." Not in the English Short-Title Catalogue or COPAC.
