Along with Carpzov, Berlich refined Saxon law, systematized it and made it a model for the legal systems of the northern and central German states. Saxon law would later be an important influence on the German Civil Code (enacted 1900). The five-part Conclusiones Practicabiles is Berlich's main contribution to the development of Saxon law.
