Boston, February 17, 1858. 8-1/2" x 5" bifolium, text to recto of first leaf, post mark and manuscript address to verso of second leaf. Vertical and horizontal fold lines, faint stains to verso of second leaf, otherwise fine. $450. * This form, which includes a receipt, was addressed to the Pittsfield Bank of Pittsfield, New Hampshire. It reads (in part): "To the cashier of the _____ Bank: Sir: At a meeting of the Board of Managers (...) it was Voted, 'That an assessment, at the rate of five dollars on each one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) of Capital Stock, be laid upon the Banks for the ensuing year,' and the Treasurer, in conformity to the above vote, attaches hereto a blank receipt, that you will please fill up, and send to him, with the amount due from your Bank, as a member of the Association, and he will then sign and return the receipt to you by mail."
