Light toning, fold lines, moderate soiling and some edgewear, early pen-mark near foot of left-hand column, fading to final two lines of that column with some loss to legibility, minor loss along fold lines in a few places. $950. * In 1861 John Holdsworth, a toll-collector in Keighley, West Yorkshire murdered his wife. This was the last of several progressively strange and often cruel actions towards her motivated by mental instability. Taken is custody after the murder, Holdsworth was tried, acquitted due to insanity and committed to an asylum. Printed before the trial, our broadside reviews the facts of the case in detail and Holdsworth's demeanor in prison. This appears to be an unrecorded imprint.
