One of the most influential men in Southern Germany, Braun was a influential Catholic canonist, theologian, law professor and state official. His fame rests on his reform-oriented works on the customs and practices of the Church. Opera Tria collects three his most important works. The largest of these is De Legationibus Libri Quinque, a treatise on diplomacy with an emphasis on the rights and duties of ambassadors. It was one of the first significant works on the subject.
