[Lexington, KY], September-October, 1936. 300 pp. Quarto (9-1/2" x 7-1/2"). Contemporary cloth, gilt rules to boards and spine. Light to moderate toning to interior, written in a single neat hand and divided into sections on Torts, Property and Contracts. Typewritten sheet of sample questions on contracts (possibly for an exam) laid in between pp. 106-107. $450. * This manuscript represents class notes taken by Jo McCown Ferguson, likely in introductory courses for his law degree. Ferguson went on to become Attorney General of Kentucky and had a long and prominent career in the state. During WWII, he was Chief of Property Control and Restitution for the Military Government of Bavaria, in which role he seized more than two billion dollars worth of stolen property from the Nazis. Thorough and well-organized, the notes are a nice glimpse into the studies of a Depression-Era law student who had an interesting life and career. A copy of his obituary is available online at https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/louisville/name/jo-ferguson-obitu ary?pid=175891744.
