Some soiling and light shelfwear, some chipping to lettering pieces. Moderate toning and occasional light foxing to interior, chipping and a few tears to edges of title page, later struck-through signatures to title page, crude repair and library mark to its verso, another signature ("Elias H. Ely 1816") to head of following leaf. $750. * Second edition. First published in 1697, this is the first English treatise on the subject. Its twenty comprehensive chapters consist of a digest of the case law relating to each topic with explanatory comments. Holdsworth notes that "[i]t was a useful book to practitioners since it covers all the topics connected with its subject." A third edition was published in 1726. All editions are scarce.
