Some rubbing to extremities, hinges cracked, early owner bookplates (of William Henry Rossington and Walter W. Colpitts) to front pastedown, moderate toning to text. Contents include "Law Amongst the Primitive Races," "Ivo, Saint and Lawyer," "The Law in Scott," "The Law in Rhyme," "Curious Circuit Customs," "Lawyers and Eloquence" and "Law and Laughter." Rossington was editor of the Commonwealth and Leavenworth Commercial newspapers. He also served in the State Legislature and operated a law firm with Charles Blood Smith. Rossington and Smith co-founded the Topeka Club, a social group consisting primarily of prominent Topekans.
