First published in 1616 as Doctrina et Politia Ecclesiae Anglicanae, this treatise on ecclesiastical jurisdiction proved controversial and was condemned and burnt by an edict of James I in 1617. It was republished under the present title in 1683 with a work by Zouch on English ecclesiastical law, to which our third edition added his work on feudal, private and customary law.
