Light soiling to first and final leaves, slight crease to gutter of final leaf, which is starting to detach at foot. Internally a very fresh clean copy. $150. * First edition. Layer, a dedicated Jacobite, was a leading member of the so-called Atterbury Plot to restore the Stuarts. This was the second significant restoration attempt, and proved as unsuccessful as the first. Our title, issued as a parliamentary paper, relates to the investigation of the plot by the House of Lords. Its appendix reproduces several of the incriminating documents in full.
