Meant to encourage and guide young lawyers, this pamphlet discusses the essential qualities of the profession. Topics covered include elocution, judgement and the merits and demerits of formal education. A popular work, it went through several editions, the fifth and last of these appearing posthumously in 1793. Our edition was issued the same year as the first and third London editions.
