Contemporary paneled calf, gilt royal arms and corner fleurons to boards, rebacked retaining parts of existing gilt spine with raised bands and recent lettering piece, blind tooling to board edges, edges speckled red. Light rubbing to boards and extremities, a few scuffs, nicks, scratches and minor worming to boards, corners bumped and somewhat worn, hinges cracked, light offsetting to preliminaries, faint dampstaining to margins of several leaves, light foxing and soiling in a few places, a few folded corners. An appealing volume. $500. * A collection of 35 acts passed in the fifth session of the sixth Parliament of Great Britain, with tables listing the titles of the public acts and summaries of 36 private acts. Some of the more interesting acts include an act dealing with the aftermath of the South Sea Bubble of 1720 and another act "to enable the South Sea Company, with the Licence and Consent of the East-India Company, to take in Negroes within their Limits of Trade, and to deliver the same at Buenos Ayres." The foreign slave trade would not be abolished until 1807. Among the private acts is the 1727 act naturalizing the composer George Frideric Handel and two others.
