Contemporary paneled calf, gilt royal arms to boards, gilt spine with raised bands and lettering piece, blind tooling to board edges, edges rouged. Light rubbing to boards, some scuffs, nicks and scratches, moderate rubbing and light wear to extremities, light gatoring to spine, joints previously mended at head, front board separated but held securely by cords, rear joint starting at both ends, spine ends repaired, corners bumped and worn, faint offsetting to endleaves, early armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Moderate toning to interior, negligible light foxing to margins and light worming to upper gutter in a few places, trimming to fore-edge of final leaf of abstract volume (a table of contents) affecting page numbers. An appealing copy. $850. * A collection of 43 acts passed in the seventh session of the eighth Parliament of Great Britain, with tables listing the titles of the public acts and summaries of 33 private acts. Some of the more interesting acts include several acts to do with infrastructure and "An Act for Restraining and Preventing Several Unwarrantable Schemes and Undertakings in His Majesty's Colonies and Plantations in America." This was an extension of the Bubble Act of 1720, meant to protect investors by forbidding the creation of joint-stock companies without a royal char.
