In 1915 Brandeis was the Boston Municipal Orator, an illustrious post established in 1771. Brandeis, then a prominent Boston attorney, addresses several themes that would distinguish his career as a justice of the Supreme Court, most notably the protection of individuals from the harmful effects of capitalism through government intervention.
