Moderate toning, else fine. $250. * This broadside advertises a mass meeting held by the Russian Hill Communist Club of San Francisco and co-sponsored by the American Veterans Committee and "15 Other Community Organizations" to organize around the restoration of World War II-era price and rent controls. Federal price and rent controls began in 1942 as a response to the instability of the U.S. wartime economy, but were allowed to expire on June 30, 1947. The American Veterans Committee, founded in 1943 as a liberal alternative to other veterans groups, was a significant voice among those advocating for the controls to continue and held several rallies in support of tenant organization and rent control in 1946 and 1947.
