Moderate rubbing to extremities, wear to spine ends and corners, front joint cracked, rear joint starting, early armorial bookplate (Jolliffe) to front pastedown. Title page printed in red and black, copperplate head-pieces, woodcut tail-pieces. Moderate toning, faint dampspotting in a few places, light soiling to title page and a few other leaves. $700. * First edition. This work elaborates Fortescue's belief, first articulated in De Laudibus Legum Angliae (c.1470), in the superiority of a constitutionally limited monarch.
