Or, The Several Declarations and Orders of the Honourable Societies of the Middle-Temple, And Gray's-Inn, Lately Made in Relation to That Affair. London: Printed for Richard Janeway, 1681. 12" x 7-1/2" broadsheet, text to recto and verso in two columns below headline. Disbound, edges untrimmed, light toning, very light foxing, later page numbers to upper corners. Housed in modern 13-3/4" x 9-3/4" buckram folder with red spine label. $850. * This broadsheet describes a tumultuous episode at Gray's Inn, where a number of supporters of Charles II "assembled themselves in the Common-Hall of this Society... and in an Irregular and disorderly way encompassed the Bench, and by getting upon the Cupboard and Tables in the said Hall, with loud Acclamations, and flinging up their Hats, did very much disturb the peace" in celebration of Charles's prorogation of Parliament. Members of the Middle Temple attempted to make a similar address but were thwarted; the "Outrageous Assembly" did not spread to Lincoln's Inn or the Inner Temple.
