University of Michigan Law School. Barristers Society. Michigan Raw Review. Volume 1 no. 1, May 1953; May 12, 1962; April 27, 1963; April 11, 1964; April 3, 1965; April 2, 1966; April 5, 1968; April 12, 1969. Ann Arbor: University of Michigan, 1953-1969. Original wraps. 8 issues, 9" x 6", very good, about 30-36 pages each. $250. * Illustrated, with parody, satire, witty verse, cartoons, etc., lambasting and roasting the University of Michigan Law School and its students and professors. The Michigan Raw Review, a parody of the Michigan Law Review, was published annually by the Barristers Society, a self-styled honorary at the University of Michigan Law School. The Raw Review used the same cover, layout, and typeface, but contained content totally dissimilar, leaning to the "insulting and semi-pornographic". Some of the humor is dated and some very offensive and sexist. Includes the rare first issue from 1953; these seem to have been issued annually in the spring. All very good; the 1962 issue has some editor's marks in it on one of the parodies, possibly indicating these were owned by one of the contributors. Includes 2 additional copies of the 1968 issue and one of the 1965 issue.
