Moderate rubbing and light soiling to boards, light fading and faint dampstain to front board, which is separating but secured by cords, somewhat heavier rubbing to extremities, spine ends abraded, joints cracked, corners bumped and worn. Light toning to interior, light foxing to a few pages, cracks in text block between pp. viii-i and 128-129, all leaves secure, small correction in an early hand to p. 187. A comprehensive practitioner's guide to preparing a bill of costs in a wide variety of contexts, including patents, bankruptcy, probate, criminal proceedings and the exchequer. A popular and useful work, the first edition appeared in 1786 and the tenth and final edition in 1832-1833. Palmer was the author of a number of popular legal manuals on practice and pleading. All editions of this title are scarce; the second edition is rare. OCLC locates 1 copy worldwide (University of Georgia Law School). Not in Sweet & Maxwell or the English Short-Title Catalogue.
