Holograph corrections to pp. 2 and 3, presentation inscription in ink to head of first page. $950. * The inscription reads: "From OW Holmes- with affectionate regards- I should have/ sent it earlier, but I was not sure of your address- Some one/ always speaks for the Class 50 years out- Hence this- Aug 18 1911" to head of first page. Holmes was a member of the Harvard College class of 1861, though his senior year was interrupted by his enlistment in the Massachusetts militia at the onset of the Civil War.
