Contemporary reversed calf, blind rules to boards, gilt initials "E E" to center of boards, fragment of paper title label to spine, gilt tooling to board edges. A few minor nicks to boards, small scuff to center of spine, minor wear to foot of spine and corners, pastedowns loose, later armorial bookplate (of Sir Thomas Preston [1767-1823], 1st Baronet of Beeston St Lawrence) to verso of front board. Moderate toning to interior, offsetting and light creases to pastedown and endleaves, "Fr" in small early hand to head of title page. $750. * Only edition. This area of English law was concerned the collection of feudal dues, such as rent from tenants, guardian and wardship and livery issues, such as the right to wear a guild's insignia. Marlborough was the attorney general of the Court of Wards and Liveries and the author of the first treatise on the subject of that court's jurisdiction.
