Contemporary calf, blind rules and fillets to boards, rebacked and recornered in period style with raised bands and lettering pieces to spine, blind tooling to board edges, endpapers renewed. Light rubbing and a few small spots and stains to boards, gilt library stamp to front board, moderate rubbing to extremities, somewhat heavier to joints, front joint starting at head, rear joint starting at foot, chip to head of spine, corners lightly worn, front hinge cracked. Light toning to interior, occasional light foxing, light soiling in a few places. $350. * Only Dublin edition. First published in London in 1651, this digest covers nisi prius cases heard at York from 1631 to 1650. Notably, the reports are in English rather than Latin or Law French, a controversial choice during the Commonwealth-era attempt to make English the standard language of all legal proceedings and writing.
