Watts], 1855. [iv], 122 pp. Octavo (8-1/4" x 5-1/4"). Contemporary textured cloth, decorative frames to boards gilt title to front board, all edges gilt. Moderate rubbing to extremities, joints just starting at ends, corners bumped and moderately worn, owner signature of Walter Ashburner, dated 1894, to front free endpaper. Moderate toning to interior, light foxing to preliminaries and a few other leaves. $300. * Only edition. Most of this impressive library was created by Sir William Lee, a jurist and politician who was Lord Chief Justice of King's Bench from 1737 to 1754, and his brother Sir George Lee, also a jurist and politician, who was dean and a judge of the Arches Court of Canterbury from 1751 to 1758. Hartwell was the ancestral home of the Lee family. Ashburner [1864-1936] was a British legal scholar and an important collector of early printed books and manuscripts.
