Contemporary calf, blind rules to boards, raised bands and lettering piece to spine. Light rubbing and a few tiny worm holes to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities with wear to spine ends and corners, front board just beginning to separate but still quite secure, rear joint starting at ends, rear hinge cracked, rear free endpaper lacking. Moderate toning to interior, wormhole to foot of text block through leaf D1 (pp. 33-34), soiling and faint dampstaining to title page and following leaf, small later embossed stamp to head of leaf A1 (pp. 1-2). $450. * Second, final and best edition. First published in 1703, the Methodical Treatise Concerning Bills of Exchange was the first work on the subject published in Scotland. The second edition is preferred because it is a corrected and expanded work that reflects changes brought about by the Act of Union (1707), the act that united England and Scotland under the name of Great Britain.
