Contemporary mottled sheep, gilt fillets and lettering piece to spine, blind tooling to board edges. Light rubbing to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, chip to head of spine, corners bumped and lightly worn, faint offsetting to endleaves, early ownership signatures (one struck through, the other of P. Dodge) to front free endpaper. Moderate toning to interior, light foxing in a few places. $50. * Second edition. Freeman represented the Province of Maine in the Massachusetts legislature and was a probate judge. Isaiah Thomas [1749-1831] was an important early Massachusetts printer, newspaper publisher and author. He was also the founder of the American Antiquarian Society.
