Charters, commissions, or grants from the king must have the mark of the Great Seal in order to carry any authority. The Privy or Little Seal, the monarch's personal seal, was used by the Lord Keeper of the Privy Seale to authorize the use of the Great Seal on important documents, or as an authorization on documents of lesser importance. The Exchequer Great Seal is the seal used by The Court of the Exchequer, which oversees royal revenues. The Signet is affixed to royal documents relating to personal matters. This title was first published in 1673 with a title beginning Jus Sigilli: Or, The Law of England Touching His Majesties Four Principal Seales. The reissue is rare.
