The Acte Concernyng the Subsidie Graunted of the Temporaltee [Drop-Head Title]. At head of drop-head title: Anno Tricesimo Septimo Henrici Octaui. [London: in aedibus Thome Bertheleti typis impressi, 1547]. [32] pp. Folio (11" x 7-1/2"). Recent quarter calf over marbled boards, gilt rules to calf edges, gilt fillets, title and date to spine, endpapers added. Light toning to interior, light soiling in a few places, light edgewear and early inkstains to a few leaves. Rare. $2,000. * An act granting Henry VIII a lucrative subsidy. Despite exemptions for impoverished boroughs, aliens and poorer subjects, the act "brought in more money than any other of Henry's reign," over ?200,000 (Lehmberg). The 1547 edition of this act has "Temporaltee" instead of "Temporaltie" in the title but collates identically to the 1546 edition (ESTC S1967).
