Contemporary calf, blind rules to boards, raised bands and blind fillets to spine, blind tooling to board edges, printer's waste endleaves. Light rubbing and a few minor spots and stains to boards, which are separated but secured by cords, "PW" blind-stamped to front board, moderate rubbing to extremities, chip to head of spine, corners bumped and lightly worn, front free endpaper torn at gutter, small hole to rear free endpaper, recent pencil annotations to front endleaves, owner signatures (of Phillipp Williams dated 1682 and William Williams dated 1811) to first blank, early annotations to final blank, which is loosening and lightly edgeworn but secure. Moderate toning to interior, very light foxing, light soiling and marginal faint dampstaining in a few places, trimming to top-edge affecting headline on a few leaves without loss to legibility, marginal pencil marks to a few leaves, owner signature (of Phillipp Williams) to title page, which has a tear to its lower outside corner. $850. * Only edition. According to the preface, this thorough clerk's guide and formbook is based on a manuscript from "the private Study of a learned Gentleman" and examined by "many profound professors of the Common Law."
