Appended is a collection of public health laws for New York State. The former owner of our copy was likely John B. Coles [1760-1827], a New York flour merchant who served as a 1st Ward alderman from 1797-1801 and again from 1815-1818. Heavily involved in civic life, Coles was also a director of the Bank of New York and the first president of the Eagle Fire Insurance Company. OCLC locates 4 copies of this title in law libraries (Harvard, Columbia, Duke University, Supreme Court Law Library Brooklyn). Not in Cohen. Shaw & Shoemaker, American Bibliography 26266.
