Contemporary laced vellum, later repair to spine with portions of existing spine laid down, edges of text block rouged. Light soiling and a few small stains, remnants of early hand-lettered title to head of spine, early annotation and (illegible) owner signature dated 1680 to front pastedown. Moderate toning to interior, somewhat heavier in places in second volume, light foxing and minor faint dampstaining to a few leaves, small ink library stamp to half-title and title page of first volume, tear to margin of leaf R6 (pp. 187-188) of first volume without loss to text, small hole to leaf U8 (pp. 319-320) of second part with very minor loss to text but not legibility. $1,500. * Later edition. First published in 1651, Metamorphosis Telae Judiciariae is an extensive collection of accounts of amusing and unusual court cases, several of which are accompanied by poems or songs. The second volume contains an additional 150 cases. The final edition appeared in 1712.
