Contemporary tree sheep, lettering piece and blind fillets to spine, faint early owner name (D. Clarke) to top-edge of text block. Moderate rubbing to extremities, worming to head of spine and adjacent section of front joint, corners bumped, hinges cracked. Light browning and foxing to interior, offsetting to margins and a few clean tears to fore-edges of front endleaves and title page, which has two small inkspots and a tiny doodles, offsetting to p.239 and rear endleaves. An attractive copy. $150. * Second and final edition. Educated at Dartmouth and Yale, Goodrich, notes Cohen, "had several different occupations, in 1784 he became a member of the County Medical Society; in 1786 and for a few years thereafter, he ran a drug store; later he kept an inn and served as a constable; and by 1793 he had become a lawyer."
