A good copy. $95. * The Dunglass family was a noble Scottish family. The plate may belong to Sir John Richard Hall of Dunglass, 9th Bt, [1865-1928], who was an author and decorated serviceman appointed to Commander, Order of the British Empire. (thepeerage.com). One of the more unusual and baffling English murder cases, it involved liquid chloroform and an incestuous family. Mrs. Bartlett, the lover of her brother-in-law, was accused of poisoning her husband in order to inherit his estate. How she murdered him remains a mystery, however. Although chloroform was found in his stomach, no traces were found in his mouth or throat. Unable to determine how she could have killed her husband, the jury did not convict Mrs. Bartlett.
