Offsetting to endpapers, otherwise internally clean. $150. * Neil Douglas, [a.k.a Britannicus] was a poet and minister of the Relief church. He was a staunch Abolitionist and critic of the British monarchy. In 1817, Douglas was indicted for sedition for "drawing a parallel between George III and Nebuchadnezzar, the prince regent and Belshazzar, and representing the House of Commons as a den of thieves"(Douglas Archives). Douglas was eventually acquitted of all charges.
