[xvi], 255, [9] pp. Octavo (8" x 5"). Recent quarter-calf over marbled boards, gilt title and blind fillets to spine, gilt publication date to foot of spine, endpapers renewed. Light browning to interior, faint dampspotting in places, early owner signature of E.F. Trabue to half-title, "E.F. Trabue/ 111-5th St./ Louisville/ Ky" to head of title page. $500. * Fourth and final edition, a reissue of the third London edition (1773). Gilbert was a prolific author, but this is his only work on wills. It was first published in 1756. A well-written work, its scope includes equity rules. This copy was probably owned by Edmund Francis Trabue [1855-1936], a partner in a prominent Louisville, KY law firm, Pirtle & Trabue, later a judge.
