Strahan, for J. Butterworth). The successor to Wentworth's The Office and Dutie of Executors (1641), Toller's treatise was a standard work into the early 1900s. Its final edition, by Francis Whitmarsh, was published in London in 1922. Daniel [1802-1868] was Attorney General of North Carolina from 1834 to 1841 and a U.S. Congressman from 1841 to 1853. William Drew bookplate is the second provenance marking, of someone who held the post of Attorney General in the same state: this is the plate of William Drew (born circa 1770, died 1827), who was Attorney General of North Carolina from 1816 to 1825. This is a signed bookplate, and its creator was a famous American artist, Samuel Hill (born circa 1765, died circa 1809). This is a rare edition. OCLC locates 7 copies in North American law libraries (Georgetown, Harvard, Library of Congress, Middlesex, MA, Trial Court Library, Notre Dame, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota).
