A charming piece of Dickensiana, this is the report of a mock trial of John Jasper that was held by the Philadelphia chapter of the Dickens Fellowship in order to benefit a number of local hospitals. A similar mock trial was held by the London chapter the same year, with G.K. Chesterton serving as the judge. Unlike their British counterparts, who found Jasper guilty of manslaughter, the Philadelphia jury dismissed the charges.
