Respected during his lifetime, his works are still consulted today. As Roberts notes, "Bynkershoek was undoubtedly a man of rare intellectual attainments." Observationum, is a companion volume to his Observationum Juris Romani Libri Quatuor. In Quibus Plurima Juris Civilis, which was first published in 1710. Both volumes, each with four independent studies, are a summation of his work on Roman civil and criminal law. Curae Secundae is a previously unpublished essay on the Roman law of infanticide by Noodt, a leading jurist who taught at the universities of Nijmegen, Franeker, Utrecht and Leiden. It has extensive annotations by Bynkershoek, which comprise about half of the book's content. Roberts, A South-African Legal Bibliography 69. Dekkers, Bibliotheca Belgica Juridica 15.
